Boomer came to us for training as one of the wildest puppies I had ever seen. He showed good talent early, but more impressive was his effort. Even as a little guy he always tried a little harder. His enthusiasm was contagious. This enthusiasm was tough to control and we spent a lot of time working on Boom's line manners and still do.

It probably sounds a little funny, but Boomer has always been more fun to watch hunt for a bird than most all other dogs is to watch pin a bird.

After a couple seasons where I literally hunted him every day of the duck season he really started to show signs of greatness. It wasn't long until I decided to run him in the UKC- HRC International Grand...he did well.

As a four year old Boomer had come into his own. Boomer and I made our 2nd attempt at the Super Retriever Series and with a lot of luck we were able to beat some incredible retriever teams and win. That win was the start of incredible ride for Boomer and I.

Winning that SRS qualified us for the 2003 Great Outdoor Games in Reno Nevada. All the greats where there, Super Sue, Ticket, Ritz, Cody and Windy to name a few. Sometimes I still think it's a dream...but they tell me we really did win!

Boomer retired from competition at 8years of age. This early retirement gave us a chance to just relax and have fun and just hunt. I'm very proud of what Boomer accomplished during his short competitive career. Boom had a great number of Master passes, 8 Grand passes, and SRS qualifying win and a Great Outdoor Games title.

We all deserve one great dog in our lives and you can bet Boomer is mine.

Boomer's passion and drive for his work is what made him one of the truly great retrievers of our time. When you look closely at Boomer's eyes you saw a 75 lb. heart beating with pure drive and determination. Boomer fathered thousands of puppies and these "Never Say Die" characteristics have been passed along to many of his progeny. We in the retriever world have been truly blessed to have had Boomer come along.
