Super V Rules
All rules stated below will be in effect for the remainder of the 2009/2010 Super Retriever Series. All decisions made by the tournament director and/or tournament officials will be final in all matters. The tournament director and/or tournament officials may make a change to these rules when the safety of a team or the integrity of the Super Retriever Series is in question.
NEW FOR 2010
• The Amateur Division has been eliminated.
• If one of the top 3 teams at an event has already qualified for the Crown Championship, the next highest placing dog in the Pro Division that has not qualified will receive an invitation to the SRS Crown Championship.
Equipment
SRS will use an official Vertical Extender.
The Vertical Extender suspends a bumper exactly 8' out from the end of the dock and is adjustable in height. The bumper will suspend from the Extender so that it is parallel to the surface of the water and perpendicular to the path of the dog.
The bumper used in competition will be provided by SRS and will be approximately 1-1/2 inches in diameter and 12 inches long.
Starting Height and Passes
The tournament director and competitors will determine the starting height of the competition. If the starting height is below 6'4", a team will be allowed to pass its first jump. If the starting height is established at 6'4" or higher, no passes will be allowed. After 6'2" has been reached, all dogs must attempt all heights regardless of remaining passes.
Dogs in season will not be allowed to compete. If a competitor attempt to bring a dog in season to the line, that team will be immediately disqualified and the handler and all dogs will be barred from competing for the remainder of the year including the Crown Championship
Objective
The object of the competition is to have to dog utilize any portion of the dock to run, jump and successfully remove the object from the Extender. If a dog is successful at removing the bumper, the dog advances on to the next round. A successful remove of the bumper is defined as the dog grabbing the object and carrying it in to the water or the dog knocking it off the Extender and having it fall in to the water. A dog must have a successful removal either in the first attempt or the second attempt in order to advance to the next round.
Scoring
Scoring will only be used to break ties and is based on the number attempts it took to advance.
A clear remove on the first attempt is worth 2 points, a clean remove on the second attempt is work 1 point. A miss in that round is worth 0 points.
Competition Flow
The qualifying round will be limited to 50 dogs. Each dog will have 2 successive attempts to remove the bumper. If the dog is successful on the first attempt, the dog will NOT take a second attempt. A dog must have a successful remove either in the first attempt or the second attempt in order to advance to the next round.
• There will be a 2-minute time limit on the dock per jump for all events
Qualifying
The qualifying height will start at 5' 8". Each round the height will increase by 2". The qualifying round will continue until 12 dogs have advanced. If 12 dogs do not advance the height will decrease by 1" and those that did not advance will have another attempt. Only 1 attempt will be allowed at this time. The height will continue to decrease by 1" until we have all 12 dogs.
Pay Once, Jump Often
As in years past, the single entry fee covers an entire weekend's worth of jumping activities
