SRSUniversity (SRSU) is a unique Super Retriever Series event designed exclusively for high school, college, and technical school students, offering young handlers the opportunity to compete at a high level while learning from experienced coaches in a team-based environment. Modeled after collegiate and Olympic-style competition, SRSU blends individual excellence with team strategy, mentorship, and education.
Each individual team consists of one handler and one dog, with handlers allowed to compete with up to two dogs as separate teams. Dogs should be at an advanced training level, and all competitors must provide proof of school enrollment. Events follow standard SRS rules and fault scoring, while incorporating a fun, supportive “University flair.”
SRSU competitions consist of three series:
All teams run all three series, regardless of DNF or disqualification, emphasizing learning, experience, and growth.
Every handler competes under the guidance of a coach, with coaches overseeing up to six individual teams. Team scores are averaged to determine overall team placements, while individual scores determine 1st–3rd place finishers, who earn an automatic invitation to the SRS Crown Championship (minimum qualifying points required). The individual team with the lowest overall score is crowned the SRSU Champion and receives the UKC SRSU title.
SRSUniversity is more than a competition—it’s a development pathway for the next generation of retriever handlers, fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of the Super Retriever Series at the highest level.
If you do not currently have access to a qualified dog and/or an experienced coach, SRS will assist in matching you with a dog and/or coach to ensure every eligible student has the opportunity to participate in SRSUniversity.
